E-GOVERNANCE IN INDIA

Digitization of data has taken a new form in today's era and it will inevitably continue to grow further. The governments all over the world, especially in India, want to take advantage of this digital wave to reach out to the people in a broader sense. Electronic Governance (E-Gov) can be defined as the usage of an online platform to provide information to the public from the government and its agencies.

Some of the examples of E-Gov are:

  1. Digital India Initiative
  2. National portal of India
  3. Prime Minister of India Portal
  4. Aadhar
  5. Filing and paying taxes online.

Another such example of E-Gov platform is RISE (RaveCS Integrated Solution for E- Governance). Rave Cyber Solutions Pvt. Ltd., is a Software Development and Consulting company that is determined to make a difference in the E-Gov arena. They have a team of highly professional persons who are there to provide governments and its agencies establish and implement the best E-Gov platform in India that facilitates the best possible services by the Government to its Citizens by establishing communication and service channels like G2C (Government-to-Citizens), G2B (Government-to-Businesses), and G2G (Government-to- Government – services and communication between different Government Agencies and Officials).

One thing that people have adapted during this current Covid-19 pandemic is the utilization of online platforms and services by their government bodies. Many people from all across India, from all walks of life, from all age groups, are now into using online platforms and with ease. This gave rise to the growth of E-Gov and is the right time for all Government agencies in India to make full use of this and reach out to their citizens with best possible services.

In the year 2006, the Union government launched the national E-Governance plan, with 27 mission mode projects, and later in 2015, the ambitious Digital India Programme.

Today, there are many E-Gov initiatives taken up by the Central Government like:

  1. Passport Seva
  2. Dig locker
  3. Online Public Distribution system
  4. Unified payment interface
  5. Arogya Setu

E-Gov has already become the key to empower citizens in a more civilized manner. Especially from the last five years E-Gov has taken a huge leap in its success. When it started, it was just a government thing, but now it is gradually moving beyond the governmental boundaries.

It is not hyperbole to suggest that the BC and AD Timeline is now replaced by pre-Covid and post-Covid times.

COVID-19 has given us an opportunity to stay united with each other through the digital space. This led to the increase in engagement of users on e-governance sites. According to a survey, people in India use more internet today as compared to more developed countries like China and South Korea.

Initiatives taken by India amidst the pandemic:

  1. E-governance was used for data dissemination and various kinds of tracking and monitoring
  2. Arogya Setu app is also a recent example of E-Gov
  3. The e-pass service delivered during the pandemic was also a result of E-Gov
  4. Various information related to beds, hospitals, oxygen cylinder, and other equipment was also collected using the E-Gov platforms

All these initiatives take by the E-Gov platform helped India cope up with this pandemic a little easier. It also affected the economy of the country in some manner.

While we aware of the benefits of E-Gov, the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the value proposition of E-Gov. This has initiated a lot of collaborations by Non-Profit organizations thus making E-Gov a more effective platform for the Citizens of India.

RaveCS (Rave Cyber Solutions Private Limited) has risen to this challenge of making the E-Gov platform a little easier for Government, Businesses, and Citizens are welcome this new change by building RISE (RaveCS Integrated Solution for E-Governance) platform that brings the plug- and-play culture and benefits to E-Gov.

The discussion about the benefits; solutions; modules; the zero-to-minimal software coding; readily available plug-and-play for every State, every ULB (Urban Local Body), every software module; central one city - one web portal - one mobile app - one phone number; automated status tracking, notification; social mediate integration; and the integrations with at least 15 third party software applications and hardware tools of RISE is a topic for another day.
